A Philosophy

A jewel is only as honest as the house that signs its name.

A practice built on a single premise—that a jewel is only as honest as the house that signs its name. Every stone is chosen in person, every setting engineered to tolerance, every finished piece auditable against the drawing that made it.

What arrives in the velvet is not the first decision we make. It is the last.

The Specialities

The Practice

Three disciplines. One standard of execution.

I

Engagement Rings

Engagement rings—built around the stone, engineered for the hand.

II

Bespoke Commissions

Bespoke commissions. One brief, one jewel, no compromise.

III

Rare Gemstones

Rare sapphires, spinels, rubies and diamonds—sourced at origin.

The Atelier
The Atelier

Built to specification. Signed by hand.

Each commission begins with a private conversation. The stone is chosen first; the setting is designed around it. CAD renders are studied on the hand, a prototype is held at true scale, and every diamond is set beneath a microscope in our atelier.

No step outsourced. No detail approximated. The jewel you receive is the jewel we agreed, delivered to the specification you signed.

The Method

Six movements, one jewel

The passage from consultation to heirloom.

I

Consultation

Brief, lifestyle and budget defined. Certified centre stones shortlisted at origin.

II

Design

High-fidelity CAD renders every angle. Proportion and geometry refined against the hand.

III

Prototype

Resin model at true scale. Presence, comfort and scale confirmed before any metal is cast.

IV

Atelier

Cast in your chosen metal, hand-finished, set beneath microscope by our master jewellers.

V

Audit

Tension, alignment, symmetry and finish verified under daylight and calibrated spotlight.

VI

Delivery

Presented in person or dispatched with full insurance. Lifetime care included.

By Invitation

A Private Courtesy

For the season's first commissions.

Each diamond tennis bracelet commissioned in this allocation is accompanied by a complimentary pair of 1.00ct tcw brilliant-cut studs in 18k white gold—executed to the same Ultra Ideal standard.

The Craft, Explained

Three briefings from the atelier.

III

Lab-Grown vs
Earth-Mined

Briefing I

The Four C's,
+ One

Carat. Cut. Colour. Clarity. And the fifth that underwrites them all.

Clarity

Diamond Clarity Chart

Graded under 10× magnification: FL, IF, VVS, VS, SI, I.

Most VS2 and SI1 stones are eye-clean once mounted. Step cuts—emerald, asscher—demand VS1 or above.

Colour

Diamond Colour Chart

GIA D–Z scale. D–F colourless, G–H near-colourless, I–J faint warmth.

Assessed face-down, against white, under D65 daylight.

Cut

Diamond Cut Chart

The only variable controlled by hand. The one that governs every other.

Excellent cuts return nearly all light. Shallow leaks. Deep traps. Both appear dull.

Carat

Diamond Carat Chart

A measure of weight: 1ct = 0.20g. Diameter scales non-linearly; price, exponentially.

A well-cut 1.00ct outperforms a poorly cut 1.50ct.

Confidence

GIA and IGI Certification

GIA or IGI certification. Independent. Non-negotiable.

Evidence, not marketing. Plus a house that stands behind every grade.

Briefing II

The Ultra Ideal™ Cut

Applied to less than one stone in ten thousand.

The Standard

The Standard

An internal specification, exceeding GIA Excellent on every measurable axis of optical performance.

  • Table and depth held within ±0.2° tolerance.
  • Hearts & Arrows alignment under 10× magnification.
  • Total light return. No leakage. No contrast failure.

Verification

Three Systems, One Verdict

Every candidate verified against three independent tests. All three, or none.

  • ASET — light return mapped by angular source.
  • Hearts & Arrows — eight-fold symmetry, crown and pavilion.
  • Ray-Trace — brilliance consistency across 360°.
Light return analysis
Performance

Where Others Accept "Excellent"

Against the GIA Excellent benchmark, the Ultra Ideal standard delivers:

  • ~10% higher measured light return.
  • Sharper scintillation under motion.
  • Symmetrical sparkle. No dark quadrants.
Authenticity

Beyond the Certificate

GIA- or IGI-certified. Type IIa. Laser-inscribed for lifetime traceability.

Every stone accompanied by certificate and internal audit record. Both in writing.

The Guarantee

The Maison Suppiah Guarantee

Lifetime brilliance assurance. Full documentation. Insured worldwide delivery.

Briefing III

Lab-Grown vs Earth-Mined

Two origins. One material.

The Material

Chemically, optically, physically identical. Both pure carbon. Both graded on the same scale. Both certified by the same laboratories.

The distinction is structural—how each is formed, sourced, and valued over time.

The Formation

Earth-Mined

Formed 150–200km below surface over billions of years. Recovered via kimberlite pipes.

A geological artefact.

Lab-Grown

The same crystallisation, accelerated under control.

  • HPHT — replicates mantle conditions in a press.
  • CVD — grown atom-by-atom from carbon plasma.

Authentic diamond, atomically identical.

The Pricing

1.00ct · Round Brilliant · D · VVS1 · Ultra Ideal

Origin
Approx. Retail
Commentary
Earth-Mined
S$19,500 / US$15,000
Extraction cost. Finite supply. Established resale.
Lab-Grown
S$4,000 / US$3,050
Lower rough cost permits superior cut precision at parity quality.

Lab-grown trades at 50–80% below earth-mined. Supply economics, not quality.

The Provenance

  • Earth-Mined: Kimberley Process certified. Resource-intensive.
  • Lab-Grown: Full traceability. Increasingly renewable energy.

Documentation accompanies every stone, regardless of origin.

The Decision

Earth-mined: geological rarity, market history.

Lab-grown: precision production, ethical transparency.

Both are diamonds. The correct choice is the one aligned to your brief.
